Mari Shibuya is a visual and social artist based out of Seattle, WA. A graduate of The Evergreen State College with a Bachelors in Psychology and Philosophy, Shibuya utilizes their artwork as an avenue to explore central questions about the origin of consciousness and how to organize our individual experience within the collective to impact humanity in ways that align with our values and goals. Patterns are a central to both of these questions. Shibuya utilizes the allusion of geometry within their work to represent the forces organizing matter from the level of the quantum to cognitive schemas. Nature grows in natural patterns, does not it follow that we too are subject to the same governing laws?
